Appcelerator and Engine Yard Partner to Deliver Integrated Cloud Connected Mobility Solution

The partnership provides developers with the integrated platform needed to take advantage of the explosive growth in cloud-connected mobility.

Appcelerator Titanium's cross-platform technology allows developers to build a mobile application once and have it run on many different client devices such as iPhone and Android (News - Alert) phones. Engine Yard provides a cloud platform to quickly develop and deploy backend Rails applications with high scalability, reliability and performance. The combination of Appcelerator and Engine Yard creates a simple, powerful way for developers to get Web-scale, mobile-enabled applications up and running quickly.

One category of applications that will benefit from the Appcelerator and Engine Yard partnership is mobile commerce. Services such as "daily deal" coupons are often consumed on a mobile device, and enabling a user to complete a coupon-initiated transaction requires richness of functionality on the device as well as a secure, reliable, and high performance backend on the Web. Appcelerator Titanium allows the commerce site developer to write the rich client once and have it run on devices ranging from phones to desktops, while a backend developed in Rails and running on Engine Yard supports the transactional capabilities, responsiveness, and adaptability needed for a Web-scale application.
