BRIEF: West St. Paul man admits to having 'demons,' turns himself in and is charged with criminal sexual conduct
Nov 26, 2012 (Pioneer Press - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Tomas Antonio Silva said he threw away the phone with lewd pictures on it, and destroyed the computers on which he claimed to have read graphic stories about incest. But the "demons" that allegedly drove him to fondle an 8-year-old female relative didn't go away.
Telling authorities he was afraid of what he'd do next, the West St. Paul man turned himself in last week.
Now Silva, 40, is charged with second-degree felony criminal sexual conduct. He is free on $30,000 bail.
According to the criminal complaint filed Nov. 20:
Silva called Dakota Country Child Protective Service on Nov. 19 to report himself for abusing the girl.
He told police he touched the girl's crotch over her clothing while she slept four times over the past three and a half years, most recently Nov. 16.
He also claimed to have accessed possible child pornography and stories about sexual relationships with young girls on his phone and computers.
Silva said he destroyed a phone and two computers in the microwave in an effort to rid himself of the "demons." He said he turned himself in because he heard such behavior often escalates.
Silva's attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment Monday.
