With the Opengear IM4200 & ACM5000 cellular out-of-band management solutions, Layer42 Networks now has a flexible and secure method for its IT staff to connect to distributed remote locations independently of a primary network connection, thereby eliminating the need for on-site technician visits.


When analyzing solutions to make their data centers run more efficiently, Layer42 Networks had a list of requirements that needed to be met. The solution needed to remotely provide direct serial management connection to all of its geographically distributed data center servers and equipment, leverage immediate remote server troubleshooting and response without "remote hands" and data center service fees, gain remote visibility using cost-effective cellular out-of-band access, and offer a wide variety of form factors to serve both small and large installations.
