BRIEF: Lauderhill rabbi helps produce TV series on Holocaust

Dec 18, 2012 (Sun Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A Lauderhill rabbi is helping to produce a new television series called "Reliving the Holocaust through their eyes." In the first one-hour episode, three South Florida Holocaust survivors recount their tragedies, and viewers will also see 30 watercolor paintings made by a prisoner depicting life in the Nazi concentration camps, said executive producer Bob Pianka.

"There are many stories of the [Holocaust] that still have to be told, many heroes that still have to be recognized, and many aspects of survivors' lives that still need to be made a part of the public record," said Rabbi Yaakov Thompson, who also produces a weekly news show for the network from a studio in Sunrise. The network is based in Los Angeles.

The series will air on Jewish Life TV, a channel available on Comcast's channel 239, DirecTV's 366 and Atlantic Broadband's 167. The first episode airs at 4 p.m. Thursday and 5 p.m. Dec. 25.
