SherWeb Offers New Hosted Lync 2013 Service as Part of Enterprise Collaboration Solution

May 30, 2014

Cloud services provider SherWeb has joined a select few worldwide Microsoft partners with the launch of its new Hosted Lync 2013 service. SherWeb is one of only a few partners qualified to offer the most updated version of Microsoft Lync, and the service is being provided in tandem with SherWeb’s recently launched enterprise-grade collaboration offering, which includes Lync 2013 and is powered by Microsoft Exchange 2013.

As Lync has become more robust and efficient as a communications and collaboration tool, levels of adoption have steadily risen. In fact, Microsoft reports that demand for Lync has grown at a double-digit rate every quarter for five years. SherWeb has deployed more than five million seats already and employs some of the world’s top Microsoft-certified specialists, making the service provider a prime candidate to capitalize on the popularity of the unified communications platform. SherWeb was also named Microsoft’s 2013 World Hosting Partner of the Year.

Last week, Proteus Enterprise announced its call accounting and logging solution had been certified for Lync 2013. The service provider’s offering integrates with the Lync call detail record database to analyze data in real time using cost and reporting engines. This helps Lync users understand how the platform is being utilized for instant messaging, conferencing and enterprise voice communications as well as aids them in reducing their costs related to IT and telecom.

Some of the new features in Lync 2013 include a Quick Lync menu to help prevent clutter, persistent chat rooms for quick access to chat rooms and topic feeds and a full screen option. Users may also easily add a contact with the click of a button, and can take advantage of new video features including a gallery view of video conferencing participants.

“My customers have been eager to get their hands on hosted Lync 2013 alongside hosted Exchange and SharePoint 2013,” said Jamie Larabie, CEO at LARA-TECH, a SherWeb affiliate partner. “Global communication and collaboration needs have evolved, which is why it’s critical that I‘m able to position a complete, one-stop hosted communication and collaboration suite to my client base.” Ottawa-based LARA-TECH offers a full range of IT services and solutions to its customers.
