Fuze Delivers Real-Time Video Communications to Improve Office Collaboration

September 15, 2014

Fuze, formerly known as Fuzebox until the company's name change in April, is a company focused on improving the consumerization of video collaboration and increasing the rate at which people use these tools. In order to do this, Fuze has decided to extend its cloud-based service from individual devices like laptops and smartphones to larger systems that can reach multiple people at the same time such as conference and meeting rooms.

Rolled out earlier this month, Fuze for Rooms enables businesses to use immersive licensed video conferencing, in any room, with almost any off-the-shelf hardware.

Including new features like group collaboration and instantly being able to launch  or join meetings from a streamlined welcome screen, Fuze for Rooms appears to make group video communication a breeze. Not only can groups share video conversations, but they can also display images, animated presentations and pre-recorded videos through the same platform.

“The tools you use to get work done should move with you across devices and environments, including meeting rooms,” said Fuze CEO David Obrand as he explained how Fuze for Rooms helps task management by transferring the same user settings from one device to another. “Fuze powers video collaboration everywhere, from the device in hand to the TV in the room.”

This release represents a shift toward software-based services over premise-based ones - as cloud services make it easier to share and transfer data as well as account settings and even software. Already, groups like Cisco, Polycom and LifeSize Communications and other hardware-based video solution providers are earning less than those who distribute cloud-based solutions. As a result, cloud solutions are cheaper for both the consumer to purchase and the provider to operate, meaning that they will likely replace premise-based systems entirely in the future.
