GENBAND Nuvia Takes Top Honors in VoIP Infrastructure Awards

April 03, 2015

Recently, GENBAND took a little trip across the pond—as its called—to hit an event in central London, the seventh annual Internet Telephony Services Providers' Association (ITSPA) awards. The trip wasn't a sightseeing excursion, but rather an opportunity, as the company brought home a major new award to add to its roster, the 2015 Best VoIP Infrastructure Award for the GENBAND Nuvia system.

More specifically, the Nuvia system is a cloud-based unified communications (UC) tool that brings the kind of economics that cloud-based services can offer for both voice and UC tools, while at the same time offering up a great variety of features and top-notch overall service. Nuvia offers users access to voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) access, as well as video and multimedia conferencing tools, and even screen sharing systems. Nuvia users can bring a wide array of tools into use with the system, including not only smartphones and tablets, but also PCs and Macs, and even browsers capable of running Web-based real time communications (WebRTC) systems. Perhaps the greatest benefit, as far as some are concerned, is that Nuvia can handle legacy Nortel IP phones, meaning that the older hardware can still be kept useful and a potentially substantial expense doesn't need to come into play.

Additionally, the Nuvia system offers up one more chunk of useful versatility, as it can be resold under the Nuvia name or rebranded for use as part of a multi-tier sales model, giving it a good deal of potential benefit. Indeed, as GENBAND's executive vice president and chief marketing officer Patrick Joggerst described, Nuvia was specifically designed to empower Internet telephony service providers (ITSPs) and help take the focus off infrastructure upgrades to put it back on building customer relationships and improving time-to-market measures.

This is actually an award that comes at an excellent time for GENBAND; this May, the company will be offering up the Perspectives15 Customer and Partner Summit, an event where GENBAND will not only show off its product line, but will also allow customers and partners a chance to better get together to address issues in the field and discuss the future of the technology. Going into a major show like Perspectives15—sufficiently major to not only bring in the band Kansas as featured entertainment but also have the KandyMobile on hand to show off GENBAND's Kandy platform—should be an experience made better by being able to hold aloft an award from the ITSPA during the proceedings.

A show like Perspectives15 has a lot of potential to rally the troops, so to speak, and it was clear from the outset that GENBAND was ready to pull out all the stops to make it a big one. It's one thing to try and rally the troops on the strength of a product's merits, but it's altogether different to have an “award-winning product” to talk about. Only the arrival of Perspectives15 will give us an idea of just how well this worked out, but from the look of it, the ITSPA award showed up at just the right time to really have an impact.
