GENBAND Wins Two Global Telecom Business Innovation Awards

With so many communication options in the marketplace, individual consumers and organizations are looking for service providers that are able to integrate multiple devices and applications to bring personal and work life together seamlessly. The Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards recognizes companies that offer the most innovation every year, and this year GENBAND was given two awards for its efforts in unified communications in the cloud.




The company received two Business Service Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards for its GENBAND Timico and Vodafone Fiji deployments.

Timico, an independent managed service provider, supplying business strength managed network, unified communication, managed hosting and mobility solutions, used GENBAND’s Nuvia to power its SYNERGY platform. With Nuvia, the company was able to deliver a hosted voice, UC, mobility and collaboration solution allowing businesses of any size access no matter where they are.

The Nuvia platform is a carrier grade scalable architecture that removes the limitations of traditional communications systems. It provides a suite of market-ready desktop, mobile and Web-optimized business communications services for multinational enterprises or small businesses.

Vodafone Fiji deployed GENBAND’s EXPERiUS application server, so its customers can easily migrate from premises-based communications solutions to next-generation IP-based unified communications. Additionally, the two companies collaborated to create anew innovative payment and billing solution for the new service. Instead of being locked into long term contracts of legacy systems, businesses can now use Vodafone’s prepaid billing system for mobile services to purchase UC or SIP trunking services. This means they only buy what they need when they need it without having to enter into lengthy contracts.

GENBAND EXPERiUS is one of the most widely-deployed, carrier-grade voice and unified multimedia communications solutions in the world. The platform has three primary components designed to address today’s complex communications ecosystem. This includes the EXPERiUS:

  • Application Server – which integrates voice, video, instant messaging, presence, mobility, conferencing and collaboration over any network and any device, including tablets and other mobile devices, IP phones, legacy desk sets, desktops, web, and TV.
  • Intelligent Messaging Manager – a unified multimedia messaging platform that includes voicemail, voicemail-to-text, video mail, visual voicemail, unified messaging, fax messaging, and automated attendant services.
  • WebRTC Gateway - SPiDR - provides a bridge between traditional VoIP networks and the open ecosystem of Web applications.

This award proves no one company can go at it alone to address the communications needs of large enterprises. With the right collaboration and technology, innovative solutions can be created to deliver a wide range of services; the partnership between GENBAND, Timico and Vodafone is proof of that concept.
