GENBAND Showing Off Smart Office

July 24, 2015

Real time communications software maker GENBAND has announced that it is demonstrating  the latest version of its Smart Office Unified Communications (UC) platform at CANTO’s 31st Annual Conference and Trade Exhibition in Miami. Specifically, the company will be highlighting how its products will meet the needs of the CALA (Caribbean and Latin America) region.

“The CALA region has a diverse set of communications needs and we’re eager to provide our customers with the solutions that power their growth, from large network transformation projects to the latest in real time communications solutions, including our Smart Office UC platform, which is now equipped with improved multi-party video conferencing capabilities,” said GENBAND chief marketing officer Patrick Joggerst. “We look forward to connecting with both long-term customers and new prospects during one of CALA’s premier events.”

GENBAND’s Smart Office is unique in that it’s based around the emerging WebRTC standard, allowing for videoconferencing in supported web browsers without having to install any other software. This means that Smart Office can support tablets and smartphones that don’t have Flash. With the ability to support a mobile workforce with a minimum of software, it’s easy to see why so many software companies and IT departments are rallying around WebRTC.

Two of the most popular browsers, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, already support WebRTC. The industry’s move toward WebRTC mirrors the move toward HTML5 from Flash: the replacement of a proprietary technologies with open standards.

Other GENBAND offerings on display include the fring white-label conferencing service and the SPiDR WebRTC gateway. Genband will show WebRTC gateways for both Microsoft Lync and Google Apps. The Nuvia Cloud Service will allow resellers and operators to deploy services.
