Sonitor Technologies Signs Deal to Bring its RTLS Solution to Australia and New Zealand

August 26, 2015

The availability of resources in healthcare facilities is extremely important, as knowing where an individual or piece of equipment is at any given time can be a matter of life and death. As with almost any industry, information and communications technologies (ICT) have introduced new innovations that are improving the operational efficiencies across entire organizations. The healthcare sector is no different, and real-time location systems (RTLS) technology is making the identification and location of resources easier.

Sonitor Technologies, the global RTLS technology provider, announced the signing of a distribution agreement with Hills Health Solutions to expand the availability of its RTLS technology to the Australia and New Zealand healthcare markets.

As a provider of interactive patient care for hospitals and aged care sectors in Australia, Hills Health Solutions was looking for a proven RTLS it could deploy for the 300 Australian hospitals and aged care facilities it has a presence in. Along with the communications, nurse call, monitoring and entertainment systems it provides, the Sonitor RTLS platform will give the company a tool to more effectively manage the assets of hundreds of hospitals.

Damien Cox, National Manager of Products and Technology for Hills Health, said, “Hills Health Solutions is passionate about bringing the latest health technology innovations to the Australia and New Zealand markets. Sonitor’s solutions provide customers with an advanced technology designed to impact the entire hospital system.”

Sonitor has developed the most advanced open integration RTLS platform for the healthcare industry in the marketplace. With Sonitor Sense, healthcare facilities are able to identify and locate objects or people in real time automatically with precise indoor positioning in complex environments.

“We are thrilled to partner with Hills Health Solutions to provide the Australian and New Zealand healthcare markets with broader access to our advanced RTLS solutions,” said Arvid Gomez, Senior Vice President, Global Sales for Sonitor Technologies. “Through this partnership we hope to offer hospitals an effective way to manage assets and identify potential areas for process improvements, ultimately having a positive impact on their bottom-line.”

According to the company, Sonitor Sense delivers an industry-leading accuracy within 11.8 inches or 30 cm. This type of information is extremely important in large facilities that have continuous movement throughout the day. Knowing where something is exactly within 1 foot at any given time allows administrators to know where patients, staff and assets are, which can improve workflow, patient flow, and enhance patient safety and infection control.
