October 05, 2015

GENBAND made a giant splash in the real time communications space about a year ago when it announced the launch of that sweet offering known as ‘Kandy.’ The platform-as-a-service solution makes it possible, via APIs and SDKs, to embed real-time communications into already existing business workflows.

On the day the company was celebrating the one year milestone, TMC CEO Rich Tehrani caught up with GENBAND Vice President, Solutions Marketing & Strategy, Sanjay Bhatia to discuss some of the new exciting things happening with Kandy and why real time communications is becoming so important today.

GENBAND is all about enabling real time communications through software for service providers, enterprises, system integrators, and software developers. What Kandy does is allow developers to build all kinds of communications applications with those integrator workflows.

Kandy partners include global brands like IBM, Deloitte and SAP and many other customer deployments that make real-time communications a reality. Customer offerings include WebRTC for a  better online shopping experiencelive customer support, better communications for  healthcare providers and even the  MindMe platform a suicide prevention app.

Just last week, Kandy also announced a new partner, Touchcode Master T +ink which transform the in store shopping experience by allowing consumers to hold a specially printed card to their mobile devices and be instantly connected with the right contact center agent to address their need.

“We are seeing a tremendous amount of growth and interest in real time communications,” Bhatia said during the interview.

“As of this first year anniversary, we already have about 15 million subscribers utilizing the Kandy platform and 1,500 new customers on board—just within a year.”

Bhatia also talked about the ways business and technology models are evolving and noted that we’re moving toward a future where deployment for services will be all cloud-based.
