Odyssey Systems Selects GENBAND's SBC and RSM for SIP Trunking

October 14, 2015

The migration and installation of new communications solutions requires a support system to ensure customers are happy with services. Odyssey Systems, a telecommunications provider in northeast England, has deployed GENBAND’s Session Border Controller (SBC) and Real-Time Session Manager (RSM) for SIP Trunking for support  throughout the lifecycle of the services it is offering.

Odyssey was looking for a new vendor that would provide a solution with the flexibility to deliver high levels of service quality.

The delivery of new-generation services requires a robust security platform, interoperability and session management for a real-time communications experience across different devices and systems.

The GENBAND family of cloud-enabled session border controllers deliver on all those points, as well as carrier grade reliability for fixed, mobile, cable and interconnect/wholesale service providers, including enterprises of any size.

Odyssey can now provide service quality for SIP Trunking, Unified Multimedia Communications, VoLTE, VoWi-Fi, RCS and OTT. Additionally, it will have seamless IP interconnections for IP eXchange (IPX), IP peering, Intra-Network, and international interconnects to ensure service availability at all times.

With RSM, Odyssey will have access to a range of tools designed to improve the customer experience. This includes enabling and monitoring service level agreements (SLAs), providing Quality of Service (QoS) metrics, and administering subscriber and network policies.

"We understood Odyssey's need for a better architecture that could support their continued growth while also enabling them to deliver on their high customer satisfaction pledge," said David Hiscock, GENBAND's senior vice president of Sales for EMEA.  "It's a philosophy that we live by as well. Our world class service and support made the GENBAND SBC the obvious choice."

As Odyssey continues to add more rich media services, such as video, the demand on its network is going to be significant. With RSM, it will be able to extract real-time performance metrics so it can have the intelligence it needs to address the behavior of each session in the network.  Accurately gauging the capability of its infrastructure will give Odyssey the ability to accelerate service rollouts and increase its bottom line with new revenue streams.
