GENBAND Making Waves in Cable Market

IP infrastructure and application solutions developer GENBAND has been leading the headlines with numerous partnerships and solution offerings across industries. One market its solutions portfolio is really helping to grow is cable.

The company already has many customers under its belt that serve major MSO’s across the globe. Adding to this arsenal was the 2010 acquisition of Nortel Networks’ carrier voice assets as well as the purchase of Cedar point networks back in 2011, which increased its position in the cable VoIP market and added major tier 1 customers.

With its Nuvia Cloud solution, MSOs can quickly deliver multimedia communications apps and enhance services without too much upfront cost.

For better user experiences with wireless communications, the company’s Wireless Access Gateway also improves coverage and data speeds.

Also, one cannot address communications improvements without also talking about the company’s communications platform as a service offering, Kandy. This offering makes it possible for cable operators to add real-time capabilities like video, voice and text.

This week, GENBAND is at Booth Number is #1307 at SCTE Cable-Tec 2015 to show off its Nuvia Cloud, Kandy Platform-as-a-Service, Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), and Distributed Session Border Controller (SBC) and Wireless Access Gateway solutions. Company officials will also be discussing how they are helping cable service provider customers retain and grow their subscriber bases. 

During a recent interview with TMC CEO Rich Tehrani, GENBAND Vice President, Solutions Marketing & Strategy, Sanjay Bhatia, talked about some of the new exciting things happening with Kandy and why real time communications is becoming so important today.

“We are seeing a tremendous amount of growth and interest in real time communications,” Bhatia said during the interview. “As of this first year anniversary, we already have about 15 million subscribers utilizing the Kandy platform and 1,500 new customers on board—just within a year.”
