GENBAND Heads to MWC with Kandy and fring in Tow

February 18, 2016

Next gen collaboration capabilities, are happening now. People are already making use of their mobile devices and apps to communicate in new ways for both work and play. The importance of mobile services and the companies creating these solutions is increasing along with demand.

GENBAND offers solutions that make it easier to have real time communications and for service providers, enterprises and system integrators to get those services out there.

Since its introduction, the company’s platform as a service offering, Kandy, has been making it possible for big names like SAP to embed voice, video, presence, screen sharing and so much more into their applications.  These collaboration capabilities are empowering customers and businesses to take productivity and customer experiences to the next level.

Mobile World Congress, one of the largest gathering places for companies dedicated to mobile advancement from across the globe, is happening next week in Barcelona, Spain.

There is no better a place than MWC for GENBAND to display and discuss its mobility offerings including Kandy. At last year’s show, the company launched its successful fring Alliance to, “change the way people socialize on the go.”

To hear more about what’s in store for this year’s event, I caught up with Senior Vice President of Global Marketing, Bita Milanian.  Our interview follows.

Mobile World Congress is next week – probably the biggest show in the mobile industry is next week? So what can we expect from GENBAND at the show?

MWC is probably the largest and most important mobile conference in the industry. We have a great show planned with tons of customer and partner meetings and briefings with media and analysts from all over the world. We also have some strategic customer announcements planned - so stay tuned. We will also be participating in some great joint partner activities with the likes of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). GENBAND and HPE will demonstrating advanced Network Functions Virtualization (NFV)-based mobile VoLTE Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) solutions combining our Wireless Access Gateway and HPE’s carrier-grade NFV platform. The combined solution will be demonstrated at GENBAND’s booth (Hall 2, booth 2I31) and in the HPE OpenNFV Partner Showcase in booth 5F31 in Exhibition Hall 5. If you are attending we hope that you can stop by either booth to see an awesome demo.

What are some of the solutions that you will be featuring at the show?

At this year’s show we will proudly be showcasing our award-winning mobility suite, which includes the Kandy Communications Platform as a Service. As many of your readers may know Kandy is our cloud-based communications API platform that enables leading companies like SAP to seamlessly embed voice, video, rich messaging, presence and screen sharing into Web and mobile applications – creating a more engaging experience for customers and boosting collaboration and productivity with employees.   In addition to Kandy, we will be demonstrating our fring Mobile Over-the-Top (OTT), Wireless Access Gateway, Advanced Media System and NFV solutions.

Last year at MWC you launched the fring Alliance. Can you please provide us with an update on what’s happened with the Alliance and if you have any news in store for us on that front this year?

Last year we announced the formation of the fring Alliance, a community of global service providers offering a turnkey OTT multimedia messaging experience to their customers. At MWC 2016 we will be featuring some of the innovative revenue generating apps and services that Alliance members are already creating.

On Tuesday evening, February 23rd we will be hosting a fring Alliance party at our booth (Hall 2, booth 2I31) from 6 pm to 8 pm. It’s going to be a lot of fun, so again if you are attending MWC we hope that you can join us for what promises to be a “fringing amazing” party!

I understand that you have recently received a promotion. Can you please tell us about your new role and what it means for you going forward?

Yes. I was recently promoted to Senior Vice President of Global Marketing, where in addition to continuing to oversee GENBAND’s marketing communications initiatives I now also manage Solutions Marketing and our Go-to- Market activities.  I am excited about accepting this new challenge and look forward to helping to continue to build the best marketing organization in the industry. I have a great team, of which each member plays a tremendous role in elevating our company’s profile in the market place, and helps GENBAND grow and succeed as a company by supporting our overall objectives every day. I feel lucky to be part of such an outstanding team.  This is such an exciting time to be a part of GENBAND and all of the great things happening within the organization with our Kandy, fring and other disruptive solutions that we are bringing to market.

Is there anything else that you would like to add?

Speaking of great things, I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight the outstanding program that our Perspectives16 Customer & Partner Summit (P16) is shaping into.

In addition to a great keynote by one of my favorite entrepreneurs and business leaders Dr. Margaret Heffernan, whose TED talks have been seen by over four million people, and our special featured entertainment Starship, we are lining up some of the heavyweights in the industry as featured as speakers. It’s going to be a great event and if you haven’t registered I encourage you do so soon.
